Retirement of Sergeant Stephen J. LeVan

Thank you Stephen J. LeVan for a twenty-five (25) year career of dedication and outstanding service with the Borough of Berwick Police Department. 

On March 20, 2023 at the monthly Council Meeting, Sergeant LeVan was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation by Mayor Burke as well as a Commendation for Distinguished Service by Chief Strish in recognition for outstanding, sustained and exemplary performance and devotion to duty.

Stephen J. LeVan was hired as a full-time police officer with the Borough of Berwick Police Department on January 13, 1998.  He later received a provisional appointment as Police Sergeant on May 19, 2003.  Then on December 11, 2011, he received a permanent promotion to the rank of Police Sergeant and he remained in that role until his retirement on March 30, 2023.  Throughout the duration of his career, Sergeant LeVan also served as the department’s Narcotics Officer, department liaison for Project Lifesaver and as a Training Officer.  Sergeant LeVan has been an indispensable component of the police department and he will certainly be missed by his colleagues.
