Fraudulent Currency



The Bloomsburg Police Department is investigating an incident of use of fraudulent currency. On Wednesday April 8, 2020 at approximately 1928 hours, the Bloomsburg Police Department was dispatched to Auto Zone, 306 East 7th Street, for a report of an individual attempting to purchase items utilizing fraudulent money. While en route to this address, responding officers were advised  the suspects had since fled in a vehicle. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle and its' occupants were identified as being Rashaun Ferguson from Flushing, NY and Courtney Murray from Slingerlands, NY. While interviewing both individuals inside of the vehicle, the odor of a controlled substance could be detected by officers. Both individuals exited the vehicle and a narcotics K-9 performed a free air sniff on the exterior of the vehicle which alerted to the odor of drugs. A search of the vehicle was conducted in which controlled substances, a credit card maker and approximately $8,000 in fraudulent money were located. Ferguson and Murray were taken into custody and later lodged at the Columbia County Prison on multiple Felony and Misdemeanor charges.
