Collision at East 5th Street at Spruce Street
The Bloomsburg Police Department is investigating a vehicle collision involving two motor vehicles. The collision occurred on 07-25-2018 at approximately 1108 hours at the intersection of East 5th Street at Spruce Street. A 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer being operated by Grace Henrie was traveling south on Spruce Street. The Trailblazer collided with a 2000 Dodge Caravan being operated by Emma Ross. After colliding with the Caravan, the Trailblazer collided with a utility pole located at the southeast corner of East 5th Street at Spruce Street. The trailblazer continued to travel south where it collided with a tree and came to final rest. Henrie was transported to Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. Ross was not injured in the collision. Both vehicles were deemed disabled and were towed from the scene. PP&L were summoned to the scene in order to repair the utility pole which was damaged. The Bloomsburg Fire Department along with the Greater Columbia Medical Service assisted at the scene. The intersection of East 5th Street at Spruce Street was closed down for over four hours while the collision was being investigated and the utility pole repaired. At this time, the collision is still under investigation.
