The Columbia County District Attorney's Office is partnering with the Columbia County Sheriff's Department to offer Naloxone (Narcan) kits to the public, free of charge. Over the last several years, the opioid epidemic has surged and there has been an increase in opioid overdoses, including accidental exposures. Naloxone (Narcan) is an opioid reversal medication that blocks the effect and can revive the person experiencing the overdose, within minutes of the inter-nasal administration of the medication.

Bloomsburg University Police Department is investigating the theft of multiple catalytic converters from vehicles in a long-term storage parking lot near the Geisinger-Bloomsburg Hospital. Surveillance footage places the date of the theft on Monday, February 28, 2022. The 2 male actors were able to remove two vehicles within 15 minutes (07:25 hrs.
On Saturday October 23, 2021, The Catawissa Borough Police Department received a report of attempted phone scam. The scammer was claiming to be a Lieutenant Shepard with The Catawissa Borough Police Department.
Please note that there is NO Lt. Shepard affiliated with this department. The victim said the phone number was The Catawissa Borough Police Department’s number (570-356-7102). The fake “Lt. Shepard” tried to get the victim to bring money to meet him at the Weis Markets within the Borough.
