On the 24th of July 2023, at 1720 hours, Chief Laidacker conducted a traffic stop in the parking lot of Dollar General on a silver sedan for going 47 miles per hour in a post 25 miles per hour zone.
Chief Laidacker observed a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. The male passenger appeared to be more nervous than expected given the situation. His eyes were glassy and bloodshot, and he had noticeable redness around his eyes. Chief Laidacker suspected that the male was under the influence of marijuana. The driver was identified as Lillian Karns, and the passenger was identified James W. Boney III. Chief Laidacker was given consent to search of the vehicle. During the search of the vehicle, a located black tin with marijuana wax was found. The marijuana wax was not in the proper prescription container
James W. Boney III was charged with one count of PA Title 35 780-113 (A)(31)(1) possession of small amount of marijuana (Misdemeanor Grading) and PA Title 35 780-113 (A)(32) possession of drug paraphernalia (Misdemeanor Grading).
