SCAM ATTEMPT - Electric Utility Company


 A Locust Township resident has reported receiving four to five calls a day between Monday 07/16/18 and Thursday 07/19/18. The caller was a male who spoke very broken English. The male claimed he was calling from the electric company that provided electricity to the resident. The resident advised the caller their electric was through PPL Electric. The caller attempted to argue with the resident and attempted to obtain confidential information. This included social security numbers and other account information. The resident told the caller the police were being notified and the male abruptly hung up.

Consumers are reminded about this and various other scam attempts that are common in this area. Do not provide anyone with your personal identifying information or any banking or consumer account information. Contact your local police department if you believe your information may have been compromised.
