On November 22nd 2017 South Centre Township Police Department participated in a county wide Roving DUI- Patrol.
At 23:29 Officer Kelchner observed a Ford sedan commit several traffic violations while traveling on Columbia Boulevard southbound. A traffic stop was conducted on this vehicle on Columbia Boulevard in the area of Ridgewood Drive. Based on initial observations the driver who was identified as Douglas Laughlin was suspected of driving while under the influence of alcohol. Laughlin failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody under suspicion of driving under the influence. A PENNDOT records check showed that Laughlin was operating the vehicle with a suspended license from a previous DUI violation. Laughlin was transported to the Columbia/Montour DUI Booking Center where he provided a breath sample of .183 more than twice the legal limit for alcohol.
