Suspicious Fires



The Bloomsburg Police Department is investigating a series of suspicious fires in the area of Cherry Street, Old Berwick Road and East Ninth Street.  These fires involve unoccupied, unattached garages or storage buildings.  The close proximity of the fires both in time and location lead Bloomsburg Police to believe theses fires are arson.  The fires occurred on Wednesday March 4, 2020 at 1:35 AM, Wednesday March 4, 2020 at 11:37 PM and Thursday March 5 at 1:26 AM.

​Bloomsburg Police Officers have collected evidence from several sources in an effort to identify the person(s) responsible.  Additional officers were brought in to work on this case in an effort to quickly resolve it.  There have been erroneous news reports stating the Bloomsburg Police Department expect to make an arrest soon.  Bloomsburg Police are working to gather information and evidence. At this time it is not known if the information and evidence gathered will lead to a suspect(s) or an arrest.

Bloomsburg Police officers are continuing extra patrols in the area where these fires occurred.  The Bloomsburg Police encourage all residents to make sure they double check both the interior and exterior of any buildings they own for suspicious activity. Make sure all buildings are locked and secure. Call police immediately if you observe anything unusual in your neighborhood.
