Grass Clippings on Roadways

It's that time of year where we are mowing our grass and continuing to clean up our lawns. For the safety of all motorists, especially those on motorcycles, please do not blow your grass clippings on to the roadway. Even a small amount of grass clippings, especially when wet, can cause a vehicle to slide and the operator to lose control. Should your grass clippings cause an accident or be a contributing factor to an accident, you could be held liable in civil court.

Please do not deposit your grass clippings, leaves and other debris in the ditch lines along the roadways. You can clog up the ditches, drain basins and pipes by depositing your organic material there. Consider using a small section on your property as a compost pile. See this link for more information on composting. https://extension.psu.edu/home-composting-a-guide-for-home-gardeners
