Community Policing

In 2014 the Borough of Berwick Police Department was very fortunate to receive a $25,000 grant award from the Central Susquehanna Community Foundation's "Health and Wellness Grant" to re-establish and improve our Community Policing Program.  The grant award is specifically $5,000 a year for five (5) years.  Since receiving "Health and Wellness Grant" funding, the police department has hosted four (4) "National Night Out" celebrations, began a Police Explorers Program, began an Internship Program, administered a four (4) week program helping Girl Scouts earn their detective merit badges, administered a "Crimes against the Elderly" seminar in conjunction with the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General and State Representative Millard's Office, participated in multiple "Leadership Day" and "Career Day" events at the Berwick Area High School, participated in multiple "Career Day" events at Bethany Blessings, administered a "Stranger Danger" presentation, administered multiple "Elementary Forensic Science" presentations, participated in an "Anti-Bullying" seminar, administered several drug awareness programs, participated in several panel discussions with the Berwick Area Community Watch Group and Berwick Anti-Drug Alliance, routinely participate in the DEA "National Drug Take Back Initiative", provided multiple tours of police headquarters, participated in "Health Kids Day" at the YMCA, escorted several parades, attended multiple community events and read books to the children.
